Brewing The Perfect Cup of Coffee
COLD, CLEAN WATER!
With brewed coffee containing 98% water, the water that
you use becomes very important. It is imperative that
you are using the freshest, coldest water available.
Filtered water, not distilled water should be used. The
minerals that are contained in water actually enhance
the taste of your coffee, so they should be left alone.
Filtering that removes sulfur, chlorine and other bad
tastes is recommended. Reversed Osmosis water will make
brewed coffee taste flat, since it will lack the
necessary minerals left in the water with other methods
of filtering.
MEASURE!
In general, the recommended measurement is 1 tablespoon
for every 6 ounces of water being used. Since the grind
directly effects the strength of the brew with this
measurement, Indian River Coffee®
recommends a grind of Drip or Auto Drip. If you grind
your coffee beans at home just ask for a sample grind
from one of our Baristas and simply match that grind to
yours at home. Once you have a grind selected, adjust
your measurement to your taste. It is not recommended to
keep adjusting your grind to taste since this will
really complicate your calculations. At our coffeehouses
we always use Drip for our grind.
STORING COFFEE!
Coffee should never be stored in your refrigerator or
freezer. Coffee beans actually absorb the various aromas
in your refrigerator. Some may be good ones but most
will not be complimentary to your perfect cup of coffee.
Freezing flavored coffees, for example, will alter the
taste, and not necessarily in a good way. Storing your
coffee in the sealed bag that they come in or in a
sealed plastic container at room temperature and out of
direct sunlight is the best method we have found.
Indian River Coffee®
prides ourselves in providing fresh, roasted to order
coffee and wants you to enjoy the aroma and taste from
the top of the bag to the very last bean. Following
these simple rules will allow you enjoy that perfect cup
of coffee each and every time you create a brew.
Enjoy Your Perfect Cup of Indian River Coffee®!
